Terms & Conditions

1. Nature of Service
The genetic risk profile provided is for informational purposes only and is not a diagnostic tool. A "high risk" designation does not mean you will develop a condition, as environmental and lifestyle factors heavily influence outcomes.

2. Your Privacy & POPIA Compliance
We are committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). This section explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your personal information.

3. Information We Collect

  • Website Visitors: We collect non-identifying data like IP address and browsing behaviour.

  • Subscribers/Customers: We collect personal details (name, email, contact number, address) provided during registration or purchase. This is stored securely in our CRM system.

  • Health & Genetic Data: Health history from questionnaires and genetic data from your sample are stored in our secure, encrypted Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). Your sample is de-identified with a unique code upon lab receipt.

4. How We Use Your Information

  • We use your contact information to provide services, process orders, and for customer support.

  • We will not sell your personal information to third-party mailing lists.

  • With your explicit consent, your de-identified genetic data may be used for internal research to improve our services and advance scientific knowledge. You may withdraw this consent at any time.

5. Disclosure of Information

  • We will not disclose your personal, health, or genetic information to unaffiliated third parties without your consent, except:

    • Where required by South African law.

    • To our authorised service providers who are bound by strict confidentiality agreements.

    • If your test was arranged by a healthcare provider, they will have access to your reports.

    • In the event of a business transfer (e.g., sale or merger), customer information may be transferred as a business asset. You will be notified of any such change in ownership.

6. Your Rights Under POPIA
You have the right to access, correct, or request the deletion of your personal information in our records. To do so, please contact our Information Officer.

 

7. Cancellation & Refund Policy

  • You may cancel your order by email within 24 hours of purchase for a full refund.

  • Preventive Genomics Tests: A R1000 fee is deducted per kit if cancelled after 24 hours but before your sample arrives at our lab. No refund is issued once the sample is received.

  • Clinical Genomics Tests: A R1000 fee is deducted for cancellations within 2 hours of sample collection; R1500 within 24 hours. No refund is issued 24 hours after sample receipt.

  • Samples must be returned within 6 months of receiving the kit.

8. Sample Quality & Resampling

  • For clinical samples that fail quality checks:

    • Visual Check Fail: 100% refund.

    • Sample Quality Fail: R1500 deducted from refund.

    • Lab Process Fail: 50% refund.

  • Resampling is offered for a fee of R500.

9. Genetic Raw Data
Raw genetic data is not provided for preventive genomics or ancestry products.

10. Shipping

  • Within South Africa: The kit will be delivered to your door. After sample collection, a courier will be arranged for pickup (may not be available in all remote areas).

  • International Customers: A shipping fee of $50 (or ZAR equivalent) applies. Customers are responsible for shipping the collected sample back to our designated lab.
